Honestly, I see him less “daddy”-like than most of the fandom seems to (like, I’m not on the “Carlisle tells dad jokes” train, and I can’t imagine him getting the kids in an RV to go see the Grand Canon or whatever lol). He’s only 23, after all, and unlike Esme was not a parent (however briefly in her case) in his human life. And his “children” were all young adults, not babies, or toddlers, or children, when he adopted them, so the dynamic, it seems to me, would be different than other families, not because the kids are adopted, but because of THE AGE they were when they were adopted. I’m more interested in whatever unique dynamics the Cullens have than trying to force it into the mom/dad/kids mold too much. I sort of see it as a sliding scale from “mentor” to “parent.”  Esme’s closer to the ‘Parent’ side in my head than Carlisle is, but both are somewhere in between the two, IMO. 

So, yes, he’d be great at helping college students figure out what to do with their lives. He’s got a lot of experience with trying to help young adults navigate new and scary circumstances, help them find themselves and zero in on what matters to them. He knows from his own experience how much you need hard work and determination, but that you can achieve your career dreams if you work at it. He’s good at seeing their strengths and encouraging them when they doubt themselves (o hai Edward), so yeah, I think he’d be pretty good at a job like this.  Also, unlike Esme, I think he’s a little more detached. She’d get emotionally invested and maybe have a hard time letting them move on. Carlisle would proudly watch them go out into the world. Not that he can’t get attached (see: Masen, Edward & Elizabeth.  Platt, Esme Anne) but I think those were exceptions rather than the rules. 

Carlisle: I only turned those who were dying, in hope of giving them another chance at an existence I hope is worth living still.
Aro: I turn those that show promise of greatness, to join us in our holy duty as guardians of the vampire world.
Sasha: Eh well one was my niece and I was lonely, and the others kinda looked like her. Oh and one was a super cute baby, what can you do
