Don’t say “I know this is crappy, but…” Don’t say “Omg I’m so sorry I butchered your character.” Don’t say sorry. No. Just. Shhhh. Stop. 

Any person in their right mind is going to be ecstatic getting gift art, no matter your skill level. Honestly. The fact that you took time out of your day to draw someone’s OC is like the nicest thing. You should never be sorry for it. Why would you give someone a gift that you were sorry for? Why would you give anyone something you are not proud of? Think about how you would feel getting gift art of your character. Wouldn’t that make you feel wonderful, to know that someone wanted to brighten your day? 

DO NOT APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR GIFT ART.
